My Background and Experience

Let me first just be clear about what I am not. I do not claim to be an employment expert or a resume expert. I am not a LinkedIn Guru, I am not a life coach, I don’t want you to sign up for a mailing list, and I do not solicit or take donations, and never will from any client. I am not charging you for anything, there is no hidden fee or subscription, I do not take any sort of payment nor do I have a method for it, I don’t even have a T-shirt to sell you. At the time of writing this, my overhead is about $25 a month which I cover without outside ask.

I am an autistic adult. I was not diagnosed until I was in my late 30s. However, I have lived with Autism my whole life and it has presented challenges. It was not until an observant therapist suggested that I could be autistic that I started my diagnosis journey, ending with a professional diagnosis from a local doctor. I found myself thriving at some jobs and at others that were similar, found myself struggling to adapt to co-workers, new processes, or different work environments and cultures. It took years for me to understand why and come up with ways to be successful.

Without knowing I was autistic I came up with ways to manage things in both my personal and professional life.  I have had successful longer-term career positions at several startup companies and even got to internship for Intel and worked a contract at Nike. I was able to complete college in my 30’s graduating with 3 degrees and honors. I feel I was able to accomplish all this by finding the right coping methods and being an advocate for my needs, even before I knew I was autistic. I’d like to share that experience and knowledge with other ND people who struggle.

I am here to share my 20+ years of experience in the job field, working at times as a hiring manager, director, and recruiter. I have extensive knowledge in preparing, reviewing, designing, and editing resumes. I am well-versed in interview preparation. I am familiar with setting up standard LinkedIn and Indeed profiles. I also have experience in requesting and granting accommodations. I know ADA and EEOC guidelines and laws. I also can find or am aware of resources for job training, college, diagnosis, and other areas of support.

My Approach to Career Counseling

I believe that anyone can achieve whatever career goals they want. You should not be limited by your current situation, abilities, or disabilities.  There are so many opportunities in life to find a rewarding, fulfilling, and even well-paying career regardless of learning or physical capacity. There are a lot of companies that are supportive of people who have disabilities or need accommodations, no one should limit themselves to a career they do not enjoy.

It can be extremely overwhelming to know where to start, or who to reach out to. Especially if you have been stereotyped into an “ND Job” and don’t have a good support network. There are a lot of pages out there run by people who are not ND, or who are offering generic advice that I didn’t think would be as useful as what I could supply 1:1.

I offer a range of options for you to work with me. We can talk over text, over the phone, over a live video call, or via email. I can assist you with just parts or all of what you need. I can craft a resume from scratch, or help review or edit yours. I provide resume feedback and interview prep.

In my professional experience, I have helped many people on my team with their career development and next steps internally or externally at another company. In my personal life, most people know me as the one to go to if they need help with updating a resume or career advice. I have volunteered and assisted others in 1:1 situations with resumes, career and college goals. Recently I assisted a past team member in prepping for an interview at my current company and they ultimately received the job. I helped another team member internally get promoted last month. I currently just finished creating about 5 resumes for friends or past co-workers who needed help, and one for a volunteer program in Ukraine.

My Interests and Hobbies

In my personal life, I am the dad to a 16-year-old son and have been married since 2021 to my lovely wife.  I have two dogs, Morgan who is my  13-year-old English Shepherd, and my best friend and Ivy who is a 9-year-old golden retriever.  They are my therapeutic service dogs.
